Thanks for the reply!!
Since my initial post, I no longer have the 2014 RAV. Leased a 2017 RAV 4 a little over a year ago with no CD player. I don't have to set the random mode when listening to music on a USB flash drive every time I turn the vehicle on.
But there are still intermittent problems. It forgets random is set after every 2-3 engine cycles and plays the 1st song stored on the USB stick. I get around this by requesting a specific song then it goes back into random mode. (An obvious oversight in the voice commands is the inability to set random mode via voice.)
The USB stick I use has just over 1,000 songs stored in the "root" directory. Tried what the manual says and created individual directories with no more than 256 songs in each directory. There doesn't seem to be any difference in the songs being played "randomly" whether the songs are in the root directory vs. individual directories.
The random mode also seems to turn itself off when it's cold outside. Also noticed the random mode sometimes turns off when opening the fuel door to get gas and occasionally when raising and lowering the rear hatch. Sounds strange but it's driving me nuts because the problem is not consistent and seems to have a mind of its own
The USB stick is plugged in all the time and noticed Entune sometimes forgets the USB stick is even plugged in after turning the vehicle on.
I've tried several USB sticks and almost every combination of ID tags and nothing has worked:
Tried using full tags (song title, artist, album, genre, etc.)
Tried completely blank tags
Tried song title & artist only
