I saw the option to select a play list, question is how do you create one? Since playlist text files seem to want an exact drive letter and path, what is the drive letter for the stereo? Or can you simply say
\stone temple pilots\whatever.mp3 ?

Figured it out..

I used this program http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Audio/Other-AUDIO-Tools/Winamp-Playlist-Creator.shtml

Put the songs you want from your thumbdrive into the above program (use another program if you would like) and save the playlist in the folder the songs are in. It seems you can not put a playlist on the root of the USB drive, with this program because it puts ..\ in front of the path the car stereo thinks the playlist is empty. You can edit the text file and search and replace ..\ with \ and that works, so you can store all your play lists on the root of the drive. For those that dont know how to edit and search and replace you can simply put the playlist in the folder the must is stored.

If will recognize sub folders so for example:
Save a play list in G:\rock n roll\
BTW G: is my USB drive letter it may be different on your computer and is irrelevant.
songs in (for example)
G:\rock n roll
G:\rock n roll\stone temple pilots
G:\rock n roll\led zeppelin
G:\rock n roll\rush
and so on...

Hope this makes sense, glad I have it working, very nice.

Even better. In the program above under settings->Playlist details->Save playlist entries change it to Absolute without drive.

This allows you to make and save playlists on the root of the USB drive without editing the file and keeping all your playlists in one spot.

I like it.

Enjoy
