You need to have the image on your phone first, and depending on your phone you might have to connect via USB

Here's how to change the startup image on the entune nav:
Load a usb device, such as a flash drive with the image of your choice. The images file name, including the file extension, can be up to 32 characters. Name the image without spaces or strange characters. When saving the images to a USB, name the folder that the startup image is saved to “StartupImage” and name the folder that the screen off image is saved to “DisplayOffImage”. If these folder names are not used, the navigation system cannot download the images. (The folder names are case sensitive.)
The images file extension is JPG or JPEG. Image files of 10MB or less can be saved.
Up to 3 images can be downloaded. Plug the flash drive into your car usb port.
On the entune nav system:
Press the “SETUP” button
Touch “General” on the “Setup” screen.
Touch “Customize Startup Image”
Touch “Transfer”
Touch “Yes”
You can also delete and switch between screens.
You should now see your new startup screen flash by when the entune system is started each time.

Camry SE 2012 with Display Audio with Navigation and Entune
Tested this, "Customize Startup Image" is not an option in Setup > General
I can view the images on the USB stick using Apps > Pictures.

Is there an alt method for Display Audio with Navigation and Entune?

From your description of not seeing the Customize Startup Screen option, it sounds like the file naming is incorrect on your usb flash drive. The folder and file name have capital letters for each part of the combination words. The naming is critical to make it work.

2012 Tacoma with Display Audio, Nav, & Entune. Same problem. The folder names are correct, file names are less than 32 characters and contain no spaces.

2012 Prius C with entune. I have not been able to get this to work either.

I have followed the directions precisely. I have tried formatting my USB drives both with NTFS and FAT32, still does not work.

I know my entune sees the flash drive & the pictures on the flash drive, but I do not have the "customize startup image" option under the general tab.

I'm getting the same thing. Doesn't see the pics - but they're there. Filename is 1 alpha char and JPG ext. e.g. a.JPG.
Just doesn't see them.

Should not be this hard.

Also doesn't show contact photos on incoming calls - kind of disappointing.

Has anybody gotten this to work? What dimensions should the images be (e.g. 320 x 480, 800 x 600).

Not that I've got this figured out -- I can't get it to find the pictures on my usb either, but the "Custom Startup Image" is a page down on "General" screen using arrows-- SETUP>GENERAL>scroll down using arrows on right of screen to >CUSTOM STARTUP IMAGE.
I am hoping that if we all work together we can figure this out! Mine didn't recognize music either. :(
